Meet the Team: Alex
Alex is our Director of numbers and company records. When at home, he likes to spin his vinyl records. On dry days he likes to take his bike for a spin down the hills of Surrey! He’d prefer it went unnoticed, but his wit and kindness speak volumes.
What’s something people would never guess about you?
I used to make music in the 90s and released a couple of very forgettable records with a friend. We recently discovered they were changing hands online for silly money. There’s no accounting for taste!
How did you get into recruitment?
My partner used to work for a recruitment company who asked her to move out to Sydney to open an office for them. So I quit my job and went with. As it was a start-up, I was asked if I could “help out” with billings, payments, and general finance stuff, which I did for six years. We then moved back to the UK and started EdenMarsh, and I’ve been “helping out” ever since!
Who did you want to be as a kid?
A combination of Adam Ant, Angus Young and Clint Eastwood (google them).
What is your most unusual talent or skill?
Beer mat flipping. My record is 25. Also beatboxing.
How do you spend your time outside of work?
Buying and listening to records (google it) and lots of music in general. Riding my mountain bike downhill as fast as possible, as often as possible. I sometimes visit the pub…..sometimes.
What achievements are you proud of?
Helping to raise my smart, funny, beautiful daughter. Managing to keep sane whilst growing a business during a weird couple of years.
What were you like as a kid?
Intelligent, polite, funny, good looking and prone to self-aggrandising.
What’s the most awkward thing that happens to you on a regular basis?
Walking out of Pret when someone is walking in and doing the “you-go-first-no-you-go-first shuffle”! Happens every day!
What movie or TV show do you rewatch often?
Star Wars. No reason needed. The Sopranos. It’s the best TV show ever written, and I rewatch it every few years.

What’s your music taste?
As I get older, my taste in music gets broader. I don’t have favourites anymore. Just listen to as much new/old music as possible.
What’s the last thing you’ve read or a podcast you’ve listened to?
Book: Utopia Avenue by David Mitchell. Podcast Love Is The Message. A socio-political music history podcast. It’s more interesting than it sounds!
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Socio-political music history podcasts.
Who is your celebrity crush?
Well, it’s a bit embarrassing, but I’ve heard that Penelope Cruz has a crush on me.
Tell me about your favourite memory from your life…
Climbing in a big cherry blossom tree in our back garden as a kid.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve ever done?
This is not the forum for that!
If you could travel to any year in a time machine, what year would you choose and why?
Maybe 1966 to experience swinging London.
What are three items on your bucket list?
See Mt Everest. See an erupting volcano up close. Eat at Noma Copenhagen.
What’s your favourite food of all time?
Chips……..despite what I just said about Noma!
What’s the weirdest thing in your closet?
Which closet?
What game or reality show would you like to be a guest on?
The Wall. Me and Danny Dyer shouting at the wall!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t be a dick.
